Second Half Summer Application and Selection Application and Placement

We have taken student feedback related to required moves from semester to semester seriously and have developed a summer assignment process designed to minimize the disruptions caused by multiple moves.

How Do I Apply for Housing?

December 2025May 1, 2026May 8, 2026, No deposit, students will complete a secondary confirmationMay-June

If you would like to receive email reminders about summer deadlines, please apply for summer housing by the deadline. Filling out the application is not binding, so you need to complete a secondary confirmation process by the May deadline to secure their place in the room selection process.

Applications will be accepted after the May deadline, but you will not be guaranteed to take part in the selection process. If you would like to receive email reminders about summer deadlines, please apply for summer housing.

How Do I Select a Room?

If you have an active application and confirmation on file, you will receive information on the second half summer assignment process in May.

All students moving to new university housing for Second Half Summer 2026 will be placed through the PAWS process in May.

Assignments will be made on an ongoing basis beginning in late May through the end of June. Assignments will be completed in conjunction with your preferences and the spaces available.

Second Half Summer Assignment Process

Summer II assignments will be completed as follows:

  1. If you are a First Half Summer resident in an open Second Half Summer building, it is most likely you will be assigned into the same bedspace.
  2. If you are not continuing from first half summer and would like to move in with a friend who is continuing in an apartment with a vacancy from First Half Summer, you may participate in Pull-In Selection day in May. You will need to provide your Roommate Group PIN and NUID to the person pulling you in. Please note, to assist with the transitions from both Summer terms to Fall housing, not all bedspaces will be eligible for pull-in.
  3. If you don’t participate in pull-in but it is in an open building, you will be assigned based upon your preferences listed on you PAWS form.

What Will My Choices Be?

Because there are less students in university housing for the summer, not every building remains open. If your Spring building will be open for summer, and you have applied and paid your summer deposits, you will automatically be placed into that space. If your building is not open, you will be able to choose a new room in the summer I selection.

A building list is subject to change at anytime.

Summer Open buildings list will be posted here in February.

Air Conditioners

For buildings that do not have central air (starred in the list above), air conditioners will be available to rent at a One Summer Semester (half summer) or full summer rate. Please note, not every room in buildings without central air are eligible for air conditioner units, and Hastings Hall both does not have central air and is NOT AC eligible

A request form will be available in May on Housing Online under Forms/Requests and “Summer AC Request”. Please fill out the form to determine eligibility. Once your request form has been approved, you will be able to pay the air conditioner fee on your NUpay.

What are the Room Rates?

Summer room rates are typically half of a full semester for each summer term, so a full summer would be the same as one full semester. Information on room rates can be found here.
